The heart of the Adopt-A-Spot program lies within the hundreds of stewards who volunteer each year to Keep Cuyahoga Falls Beautiful.

Participating stewards may be individuals or families, scout troops or community groups, or businesses - anyone willing to commit to maintaining a plot for one growing season.

Steward Duties

Stewards and sites are matched by convenience of location, knowing that it is easier to keep a weekly commitment when the plot is closer to home or work. When beds become available, current stewards are given first option to change sites. Stewards retain their adopted space until retirement from the program.

Each spring the city’s Grounds Maintenance staff prepare the beds for planting. Stewards are responsible for plant selection, planting, weeding, watering, and general maintenance of their adopted site on a weekly basis throughout the season.

Every season, stewards are invited to attend a Spring Kick-off & Plant Swap and a Mayor's Fall Thank You Reception to celebrate the hard work and fun had throughout the year.
