What is the Neighborhood Excellence Initiative?

The Neighborhood Excellence Initiative inspires citizen engagement and connects residents and businesses with services and activities designed to reinforce strong, safe, and vibrant neighborhoods.

The three keys to neighborhood excellence are:

  1. CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT: All residents have a stake in quality neighborhoods. Providing program information to and enlisting the participation of citizens promotes a greater sense of community engagement.

  2. NEIGHBORHOOD EMPOWERMENT: Community pride begins at the street block level. The city partners with Neighborhood Ambassadors who focus on issues and improvements from the ground up - to help shape bright futures for our neighborhoods.

  3. STRATEGIC INVESTMENT: The city prioritizes neighborhood improvements by investing in resources that ensure a positive impact for the community.

The Neighborhood Excellence Initiative helps foster an inclusive community free from discrimination, encourages community participation, and directly responds to the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing rule in an effort to decrease disparities in access to opportunity in our neighborhoods.
