Often, it is hard to judge speed with the naked eye but this observation program offers a tool to learn actual speed.
The Speed Observation Program is a radar gun loan program that allows residents to observe actual vehicular speed and compare it to the perceived speed of traffic in their neighborhood. It is important to note that this is not an enforcement program and residents may not take the law into their own hands.
Residents may contact the city and sign out a radar gun for a two week period in which the user is invited to view the speed of vehicles traveling in their neighborhood. Participants will need to come to City Hall to sign out the equipment and receive a brief training on the operation of the radar gun.
To schedule your speed limit observation period, please contact the mayor's office at (330) 971-8200.
