Why did I receive a letter?
You received a letter because of a new federal regulation that requires all water systems, including ours, to inventory the materials used in service lines and notify consumers with non-copper service lines. Your service line is the water pipe that runs from the street to your house. There are three service line types that received letters:
- Notification of Lead Service Line
- Notification of Galvanized Requiring Replacement Service Line
- Notification of Lead Status Unknown (Unknown) Service Line
Why did my neighbor receive a letter, but I did not?
Only properties with lead, galvanized, or unknown service lines received letters. If you did not receive a letter, that means that we have a record that your service line is copper.
Is my water safe?
Yes, all water provided by the Cuyahoga Falls Water System is safe. We conduct regular testing at our Water Treatment Plant to ensure that our water supply is safe and meets EPA requirements. All Cuyahoga Falls water is treated with sodium hydroxide and orthophosphate, which creates a protective coating inside pipes and plumbing fixtures to reduce the presence of lead.
How do I have my water tested?
Please call the Water Department at 330-971-8130 for information about testing.
I did not receive a letter. Can I still look up my house?
Yes, all Cuyahoga Falls Water System customers can search for their property address using the ‘look up’ tool.
How can my service line material be unknown?
We have updated our records with all available data. If your service line is listed as unknown, it means that we do not have a record of your service line type.
When will I know my service line type?
The City of Cuyahoga Falls is in the process of upgrading its water meters as they have reached the end of their useful life. We anticipate that the city-wide water meter upgrade will be completed by the end of 2026. The meter technician will verify your service line material during your installation appointment. You will be notified if further action is necessary.
I don’t want to wait for my new meter installation. Is there something I can do to determine my service line material?

What is the City doing?
